Restaurants and their staff members were among the hardest hit when the economy was shut down to stop the spread of COVID-19. Indoor dining is still not permitted in New York City, but the city is trying to save as many restaurants as possible by allowing outdoor dining on sidewalks and streets under the city’s Open Restaurant Program.
Over 7,300 restaurants across the five boroughs have been approved to set up outdoor tables after meeting strict criteria for health, safety and social distancing. This is an opportunity for all of us to support local dining establishments.
To see which restaurants are open near where you live or work, visit the NYC Open Restaurants site here.
Please spread the word and enjoy the return of restaurants!
